WELCOME BACK STUDENTS TO A NEW SCHOOL YEAR. I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH YOU AS WE TRAVEL BACK IN TIME TO THE Renaissance PERIOD AND FAST FORWARD TO THE 21ST CENTURY..
WHY DOES HISTORY MATTER?? Former Secretary of State Colin Powell best summed it up by saying, ”To solve most of the major problems facing our WORLD today-from wiping out terrorism since 9/11 to minimizing global environmental problems will require every young person to lean more about other regions, cultures and languages.” In other words studying world history and geography is as important as studying math or science.
COURSE OUTLINE:
**RENAISSANCE AND REFORMATION 1200-1800
*EXPLORATION 1400-1700
* ENLIGHTENMENT 1550-1800
*INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION 1700-1920
*THE WORLD AT WAR 1914-1945
*THE COLD WAR
*KOREA
*VIETNAM
*MODERN AGE
DAILY MATERIALS BRING TO CLASS
1. a sharpened pencil or pens BLUE OR BLACK ONLY (no red pens)
2. 3 ring 1 to 2 inch binder/ dividers/notebook paper
3. highlighter (any color will do)
4. a pack of colored pencils with sharpener in a pencil pouch attached in notebook.(WE WILL BE USING THEM FOR MAPS)
5. A FLASH DRIVE FOR POWER POINTS PREFERABLY 2Gg+
EXPECTATIONS *Treating everyone in this class with RESPECT and kindness *Respect for other people’s opinions even if they differ from yours!!
* Be in your seat and ready to work before the tardy bell rings
*Study any material noted for testing purposes *Participate actively in class discussions
*If you are absent…get a buddy in class exchange emails or contact me by email to find out about missed work.
It is your responsibility to ask for anything that you might have missed on the day that you return to class. You will have 1 day for every day that you were absent to make up work and still receive credit. You may turn in any missed assignments during the nine-weeks for partial credit.
